Sparkling Hooves & HEART Clubs: Evidence-Based OT/PT with Art and Positive Behaviour Support, Without Traditional Equine Therapy

We provide Occupational Therapy (OT) and Physiotherapy (PT) grounded in evidence-based practices to support social, emotional, and motor development. Through our Sparkling Hooves and HEART Clubs, we use creative and motivating approaches like art and Positive Behaviour Support strategies, including the presence of a horse, to enhance engagement and focus. While we incorporate these elements to create a motivating environment, our therapies are rooted in proven methods, without relying on unproven equine therapy models.

Sparkling Hooves Club – Evidence-Based OT and PT Using Equines as Positive Behaviour Support in Burpengary

At Succeed Healthcare Solutions, we provide Occupational Therapy (OT) and Physiotherapy (PT) grounded in evidence-based practices to support social, emotional, and motor development. We follow proven therapeutic techniques, clinical research and strive to comply with the latest NDIS guidelines. As part of our in-house quality improvement plan, we conduct routine reviews to assess progress against baseline measures and therapy goals, ensuring continuous improvement.

While equine therapy, as traditionally practiced, lacks strong evidence, we do not use it as a treatment method. Instead, we incorporate the presence of a pony as a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategy to engage children in therapy, particularly those who benefit from active, hands-on learning environments.

Sparkling Hooves Club – Equine-Inspired Therapy with a Physical Focus in Burpengary

In the Sparkling Hooves Club, the pony serves as a motivating factor to help children stay focused during therapy, but the therapy itself is delivered through proven clinical frameworks. The pony’s presence supports our interventions, which are rooted in evidence-based models, including:

  • PEERS for Adolescents – A program shown to effectively improve social skills.
  • Secret Agent Society – Supporting emotional and social development with research-driven techniques.
  • Executive Function Strategies – Enhancing life skills like organisation, planning, and problem-solving.

HEART Club – Art Therapy for Social-Emotional and Fine Motor Development in North Lakes

At HEART Club, art is used as a tool to foster emotional growth, social skills, and fine motor development. Each session is tailored to individual needs and underpinned by established therapeutic approaches, including:

  • Gottman Method Emotion Coaching – Building emotional intelligence.
  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) – For emotional regulation and coping.
  • Fine Motor Skills Development – Including handwriting and coordination tasks.

Various art and craft activities at HEART Club complement equine therapy Burpengary.

Goal-Driven, Measurable Progress

Both Sparkling Hooves and HEART Clubs follow structured, evidence-based goals, with progress evaluated through quarterly reviews. Carers receive detailed progress notes, educational resources, and suggested daily goals to help transfer the skills learned in therapy into everyday life.

At Succeed Healthcare Solutions, we are dedicated to delivering evidence-based therapy that ensures measurable progress, offering a motivating and supportive environment without relying on unproven therapeutic models.
